Foundation in Career Education (Year 6 - Year 8):

From Year 6 onwards, our students embark on a carefully sequenced curriculum that introduces them to the world of careers. The program is designed to progressively build awareness and understanding of various professions, industries, and educational pathways. Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to make informed decisions as they approach key milestones in their educational journey.

KS4 Options Support (Year 9):

In Year 9, students receive targeted support as they navigate through the process of choosing their Key Stage 4 (KS4) options. Our Careers Coordinator works closely with them, providing guidance and resources to help them align their interests and strengths with potential career paths. This ensures that their choices are well-informed and aligned with their aspirations.

Preparation for Leaving Sessions (Year 11):

As our students approach the crucial transition from school to post-16 education or employment, our weekly Preparation for Leaving sessions become invaluable. Led by a team consisting of a speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, and our Careers Coordinator, these sessions delve into a variety of essential skills.

Highlights of the Year 11 Sessions:

Exploring Post-16 Options: We guide students through the array of post-16 opportunities available, including further education, apprenticeships, and vocational training.

Informed Decision-Making: The sessions focus on equipping students with the skills needed to make well-informed choices. This includes honing interview skills and developing problem-solving abilities to navigate potential challenges.

Alumni Engagement: Previous students return to share their post-16 experiences, offering valuable insights and inspiration. This connection helps bridge the gap between school life and the realities of the post-16 world.

These sessions not only prepare students academically but also nurture the soft skills and resilience needed for success in their chosen paths. By providing a holistic approach to career education, we aim to empower our students to confidently pursue their goals beyond our school gates.

At our school, we believe that effective career education is not just about finding a job but about empowering students to create fulfilling and meaningful lives. Through our comprehensive program, we aim to instill a lifelong love for learning and a curiosity about the vast possibilities that the world has to offer
