Specialist Literacy Support
Currently, all students in years up to and including year 10, are timetabled for a weekly session for 1 term per academic year. The Junior school also receive a 30 minute phonological awareness and orthographic mapping group / morphological awareness group (as appropriate).
Students are assessed within a year of entry and again in year 9 to help monitor their progress and profile their areas of strength and need.
The sessions focus on developing literacy and language skills and strategies. This specialist input is coordinated and provided by a dually qualified speech and language therapist with a level 7 qualification (dyslexia trained).
