Year 11 Blood Brothers Theatre Trip
YEAR 11 THEATRE TRIP BLOOD BROTHERS
On Wednesday, our Year 11 students had the fantastic opportunity to see Blood Brothers at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Willy Russell’s powerful and moving musical tells the heart breaking story of Mickey and Edward, twin brothers separated at birth and raised in completely different social classes—one in poverty, the other in privilege. Despite their vastly different upbringings, fate continually brings them back together, leading to a tragic and emotional climax.
With its gripping narrative, sharp social commentary, and unforgettable songs like Marilyn Monroe and Tell Me It’s Not True, Blood Brothers captivated everyone in the audience.
However, the drama didn’t end when the curtain fell! On the journey home, our train was unexpectedly cancelled, turning our trip into an adventure of its own. Showing true resilience, teamwork, and (very fittingly) a flair for the dramatic, the students swiftly adapted to the situation—racing to catch an alternative train with moments to spare. There were quick decisions, fast footwork, and a few gasps of relief as we made it back safely.
A huge well done to everyone for their fantastic attitude throughout the trip. A memorable evening of theatre and teamwork—worthy of a standing ovation!
