School Council

Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.

School Council currently meets every other week. There are 12 student reps on the council, mainly elected by their year groups. The council discuss issues and put forward ideas and initiatives to help make Knowl Hill an even better school. Some of the ideas and actions taken by the council since April have been:

  • More playground equipment requested - Nicole has been researching what playground equipment students would like and the cost of this.
  • A longer lunch break - Rosie and Tabitha have been running a survey to gather views from all students and staff.
  • An investigation on the water fountains - blind tasting to take place!
  • Obtaining a budget for the Year 11 leavers do - this has been agreed by management including a small budget for a picnic lunch.
  • Putting the ‘blobby sheets’ online so students don’t have to carry around pieces of paper. It has been agreed with management that this will happen in September with the introduction of the new SIMS computer system.
  • Introducing a tuck shop - this is currently being researched by students.

The school council have lots of other ideas coming up in the future. Watch this space!
