Knowl Hill School will provide an excellent education in a nurturing, friendly and creative environment. Each child will:
We are an independent school located in the picturesque village of Pirbright in Surrey. Knowl Hill is a co-educational school offering teaching to pupils with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, SpLD, Social Communication difficulties and other similar learning disabilities. There is a Lower school with pupils from years 3 to year 8, and an Upper school with years 8 to 11.
As a small school with up to 60 pupils, we specialise in creating a friendly, nurturing environment, where each child can grow and progress, not only educationally, but also socially and emotionally. A key part of the school's ethos is the emphasis on small class sizes with classes typically consisting of around 6 pupils, allowing greater interaction between students and teachers, as well as catering for the specific needs of the pupil. Currently the school has 54 pupils on roll. Most of the pupils have a Statement of Special Needs or an EHCP, but some are privately funded. Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy is provided on site and integrated into the lessons, as well as being offered on a 1:1 basis. We also have a school counsellor.
Teaching is multi-sensory in style and Dyslexia friendly. Following the creation of an Art Block, the school also places an emphasis on the visual arts, and the GCSE results in these subjects were all at either A or A* in summer 2015. Year groups are named for Greek letters (e.g. Omicron) which may vary depending on enrolment in a particular year. Although the school is in Surrey, pupils come from at least 10 different Local Educational Authorities, for example Kingston upon Thames, West Sussex and Hampshire.
